Art North 2022

Art North is a visual arts competition held at Cincinnati’s northern most public art gallery. The competition is open to artists who live or work in the Cincinnati Tri-State area of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.

The Sharonville Cultural Arts Center is seeking artists working in painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics, sculpture, glass, and mixed media for a competition and exhibition to showcase talents of visual artists in the Tri-State.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners from within the select group of artists whose work is chosen for this annual fine arts competition.

1  Grand Prize $100
Plus a contract for a solo exhibition in the Westheimer Gallery in 2023.

2  Juror’s Choice of $50.00 each will also be awarded.

All artists entering the competition may also be considered for solo or group shows
at the Sharonville Cultural Arts Center in the future.

Award winners will be announced at a special ceremony during the First Friday show opening party on Nov. 4, 2022.

Artist must live or work in The Cincinnati Tri-State area of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana


Innovative artwork is encouraged in the mediums of Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Printmaking, Glass, Ceramics, and Mixed Media.

Work eligible for consideration must be the result of independent effort and original, which is not a copy or variation on the original design of another artist working in any medium.

Date of Work
All entries must be NEW work – completed after January 1, 2021.


All work must be for sale and price listed. Each artist may submit up to three (3) pieces for consideration. Artist’s information must follow entry format shown below and be submitted with images via the form link on this page by the August 31 deadline.

Entry Fee: $35 (one entry fee for up to three submissions)
Must be received by August 31, 2022
Payment can be made online as as part of our entry form

Entry Images
Up to three (3) images may be submitted. Images should be in focus, clean, and clear. The work should appear as you would wish it to be reproduced (so that we may post images on our web site and in social media).  Images must be of completed work, NO WORK IN PROGRESS.

Digital Image File Specifications
FILE TYPE: JPG      FILE SIZE: no larger than 3 MB per picture
Be sure each file is .JPG and carries the extension “.JPG”. The “JPG” file must be formatted to be PC Compatible. Acceptable resolution of 72 dpi;  these images are for committee preview only! Upon acceptance, artists may be asked for high resolution images.

File Naming:
“Artist’s Last nameFirst name_1.jpg” and _2.jpg for image 2; _3.jpg for image 3
Example: SmithJoe_1.jpg; SmithJoe_2.jpg; SmithJoe_3.jpg
Those who submit 3D work may submit an additional detail image:
Example: work itself would be SmithJoe_1.jpg; detail of work would be SmithJoe_1d.jpg

Entry form/support document:
Along with the images, artists are required to submit a registration form (Below) to provide the name, address, phone and email of the artist and details regarding the submitted images.

Entry notification:
Accepted artists will receive notification by the second week of October.

Submission of a work of art for consideration shall be understood to constitute an agreement on the part of the artist to all the conditions set forth.
This will also grant Sharonville Cultural Arts center the rights to reproduce and distribute the images through print and electronic media for promotion of the exhibition and entrants. Artist will retain all copyrights to their work.

The artist is responsible for all insurance on the accepted artwork.

All artwork must be for sale by the artist in the Westheimer gallery.  Normal gallery procedures will be followed in the event of a sale – the artist will be paid 70%; Sharonville Cultural Arts Center will retain 30% of the retail price listed on the entry form. This applies to any sales during the event or mediated by the gallery staff after the exhibition.

Delivery and Pick-Up
Artists are responsible for delivering to and picking up their work from the Sharonville Cultural Arts Center on the dates listed on the calendar.
